ipsum develops projects for people and organizations in the domains of education, peace- and conflict work, media literacy, social work and environment. Photography as a central method is combined with various approaches of media and drama pedagogy. Always, this is about dealing with the own circumstances of life and the possibility of expressing what one considers important and reflecting on it with other people. This makes aspects of everyday life appear in a new light and gain new meaning. Differences and similarities in the perception of everyday life become visible. All people involved are part of a joint learning and reflection process. At the end of a project, the authors decide whether and in what way they want their work to be published.
ipsum offers various publishing possibilities for the pictures and stories created in the projects: in interactive exhibitions, activities in public space, video installations and on the ipsum website, the audience is invited to engage in a dialogue with the pictures. Special exhibition formats include interviews on pictures, as well as interactive photos one can draw, paint, or write upon, which invariably leads to the creation of new pictures and stories.
Special workshop formats are offered to various target groups, adapted to their specific requirements. The workshops focus on the conscious approach of visual worlds, the actors they involve and the scopes of interpretation they entail. The scale of topics covers everything from questions of photovisual ethics to dealing with the flood of images provoked by the era of social media.
